Because we had experienced issues with existing public address systems in our previous projects, we built our own public address system components step by step. The main problem was the integration of the individual PA components. The first step was the micnode, a paging station that integrates with our content management system and existing PA systems. The second step was to come up with an audio integration device called ionode and an amplifier – ampnode to ensure a well-integrated PA solution. Our hardware integrates seamlessly with our software, providing smooth and efficient operations for our clients.

We wanted to ensure memory safety, performance, productivity, and no data races, and it was a struggle to achieve these goals using traditional programming languages. However, we built most of the software & firmware from the ground up in Rust, which enabled us to achieve these objectives. Rust compiler is like your team buddy, pair-programming with you and guaranteeing that the objectives are fulfilled at compile time! While Rust has a punishing learning curve, the breadth of the crate’s ecosystem enabled us to experiment a lot, and it will surely make us able to keep the product up to date and add new features super-quick.
